Benjamin Ogbalor is an Energy Expert and Development Practitioner with focus on initiatives to leverage financial instruments to increase electricity supply through renewable resources and strong agenda to increase access to electricity, energy efficiency mix, demand driven micro-credit programmes and RE technologies to boost mini-grids and off-grids through multi-sector partnerships. He served on the Advisory Board of the West Africa & Industry Convention (WAPIC) and was a Panelist in 2013 and 2014 editions of the WAPIC conferences and presented papers around “Sustainability in Nigeria Gas to Power Infrastructure and Post Impediment Policy Regime in the Power and Gas sector”. In 2014 he Chaired Sessions on “Transforming Electricity Supply through Incentive Regime, Improving Regulatory Performance through Benchmarking, Development Strides in the Nigerian Electricity Market & Beyond the Grid & Off Grid and Small Energy Solutions for Rural Dwellers.
Benjamin drafted the Nigerian Energy Efficiency Policy for the Energy Commission of Nigeria /UNDP/ GEF. He is currently working on an EU sponsored project using solar energy to support the provision of water and sanitation facilities in small towns sustainably using a social business model which he hopes to extend to the electricity sector to create demand and viable markets for the electricity sector in Nigeria.
